I am a retired finance executive in the US defense industry and spend my golden days as an author and executive coach.
My professional training is in corporate finance and enterprise risk management which gives me an advantage when coaching entrepreneurs and Fortune 100 executives.
My life training is as a Christian husband, father, and diligent seeker of the truth in God's Word, the Bible.
My professional and life experiences in the family, business, and the church converge during every coaching appointment to deliver exceptional results.

People come to coaching for many different reasons, but the main one is change, and they desperately want to find someone they can trust to help define and execute that change. I address the whole person, with an emphasis on producing action and uncovering learning that can lead to fulfillment, life-balance, & more effective processes for living. The principles for building a meaningful life are found in the Bible, a source I refer to often.
These principles can also be found in many coaching and leadership books — I prefer the original source of wisdom.
Coaching, at its heart, is the ability to help you discover the answers that you seek — a unique process of walking alongside you, so to speak, until you become who you want to become. There are many starting points because, let's be honest, you are complicated and a mystery to me, and often a mystery to yourself. If I believe in you and your motives, I become your greatest advocate and artisan in the search for "next steps."
My consulting practice for businesses always starts at the top of the organization as a coach. I can't help the business until I help the leader because all business is at first personal.
My services include leadership training and development in three broad areas: personal, team (project, marriage), and organization (business & church).
Personal (Life) Coaching focuses on three elements: fulfillment, balance, and process. Every client is looking for one or all of these.

Personal (Life) Coaching focuses on three elements: fulfillment, balance, and process. Every client is looking for one or all of these.
Executive Coaching is simply personal coaching for people that have a broad span of control, e.g., a CEO of a large company or a mother of three children.
Team and Organization Workshops focus on personal leadership and the benefits achieved by working together. We will explore mission, vision, roles, responsibilities, authorities, and how to sustain the change that is needed. Of particular interest are workshops and speaking on leadership among churches of Christ, whether or not elders have been appointed.
Public Speaking is another service I offer to businesses and churches, but only if I can be assured my participation is part of a process and not as a one-and-done motivational speaker. I am incapable of motivating anyone for more than six hours.
Special Services — I am a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in "hair on fire" situations, the kind that drive people toward a trusted coach.

Leadership maturity comes at a price. The price is experience involving challenges, hardships, and failure. Omphax means unripened grape in the Greek language (Gr. LXX Job 15:33; Isa. 18:5; Jer. 31:29-30; Ezek. 18:2). Unripe or sour grapes must remain attached to the vine a little longer until sweetness or maturity is achieved. This curve
This curve does not appear in any peer-reviewed professional journal — I made it up based on my experience as a parent, husband, elder, executive, and inquisitive observer. I applied this concept to the eldership of the church and revealed it in my book, Set in Order the Things That Are Lacking, © 2024.
The first question of importance is, to what vine are you attached?
Although The Omphax Curve was envisioned as a tool to assist in the development of mature leaders in the churches of Christ, its applicability to life in general is palpable.
I experienced the downward trend on the curve every time a significant change happened in my life: becoming a Christian, marriage, having children, getting that big promotion at work, and being appointed as an elder in the church. I was challenged to do something important that I had never done before, another enigma wrapped in a mystery we call leadership. I was qualified for the next step but was not ready in many ways, and I temporarily tumbled down the curve.
In my coaching practice, I meet a lot of people at the bottom of that curve.

The Omphax Curve ® effect
Practical help to measure the effectiveness of a leader's actions on others by self evaluation. When pruning a bush, we want to know if we encourage future growth or kill it. Tracking our (not their) progress along a path that God designed not only helps us mature, but has direct and positive effects on those we lead.
Living Room Leadership - shepherding made easier.
Sometimes leaders must eat more pie to mature the church. The chart says it all!
Things to Ponder — Reminders, to all elders in the church, of the key elements of their responsibilities. Considering these will minimize the downward trend of their Omphax Curves.
